Feedback and views from The Audience

Everyone who takes part in media at city and Islington sixth form college attended a cinema screening on the 5th of April.We watched the whole As media groups thriller including our own.she thriller openings that have been produced by us students. I really enjoyed watching every ones thriller including my own and it made me feel really proud watching mine and my fellow group members thriller on he big screen.

After we finished watching we had to get some feedback on our thrillers. I went to one friend and other students that I didn't no .They gave there opinions and views on our thriller.Here is some of the feedback we received below.

Prince Kongo: "i really enjoyed the thriller because they had a range of  shots although they were mainly close ups I felt that it emphasised on the suspense more so than if it was long shot, overall i though it was very entertaining and i wanted to watch more"

Rosetta Hudson: "the film was funny innovative & creative"

  Julien Winkel : "the film was really sexy and i liked that aspect of it , I loved the close ups of the woman pulling up her stockings and buttoning up her top , that drew me in from the start."

Target audience Profile

Below is a montage of what i think the typical person that would enjoy our thriller would have or be interested in.I believe our film is aimed at males more than a female audience due to the sexiness involved in our thriller but I also I feel that females can relate to our thriller also due to the femininity but more so males.

How does your media project represent social groups ?

I think our project represents the working class social group due to the smart immaculate dress sense and formal aspects of the film.

Art of The title sequence

These are some screen shots from our thriller Ruby and also some screen shots from the opening of 'Electra Luxx' (NSFW) .In  our thrilller opening there were various simililarities to  Electra Luxxfor example the fact that the female is the protagonist and also the more powerful character . Furthermore , in Electra Luxx they used red lips and stockings and also a wig which is also some of the main props used in our thriller. This shows that the protagonist in the character is portraying a similiar role to our main character of a feminine female criminal who uses her sex appeal as her weapon.One of the main contrasts of Electra Luxx and our thriller is the fact that it is an animiation opening and ours isnt .Also our thriller uses slower more senial music and also has not got the usage of a w weapon whereas Electa Luxx has the the usage of a gun which is one of the main props in the opening.

Main Props used in our thriller

We used various props to enhance the main characters femininity . We used a black bob cut wig , red lipstick , smart but sexy attire and classy high heel . We also used three passports to increase the suspense factor in the film for example her having three passports and putting them in her handbag  ,makes the audience think 'why' .

Evaluation of out thriller

During our final thriller opening Ruby we chose to use various minor sounds so it wouldn't overpower our opening of our thriller.Our aim is to intrigue the viewers and make them get drawn in to our thriller.This is why we chose to be different and not use the typical slow tempo dreary violin type music usually used in many thrillers , we chose a more upbeat sound which ties in better with our thriller.

Inspiration for titles

This is a title sequence that inspired us . The taking of Pelham. We liked this title sequence featured in this film because the film creators kept it simple and didn't go over the top with the titles . Also the simplicity of the titles doesn't give much away in the title sequence which also creates suspense. This is what w intended to do , create suspense so we kept our titles simple to intrigue the audience.

Our Final film

This is our final film  RUBY .Im very proud of it and proud of the team work involved in creating this film.

Inspiration for sound.

We looked at the sound used on the opening of the famous  Vertigo the 1958 American psychological thriller of the famous Alfred Hitchcock film.the type of sound featured in this film is really earry and creepy which makes the opening very suspenseful.This was the aim we were going for.This was our research for the sound featured in our thriller.

Final

This is our final piece. I feel absolutely proud of our work. i felt that we gave our all and the final result is more than what i expected. i am please to say this is our final result of our thriller film "RUBY"

success and difficulties

I felt that the project was reasonably easy however I felt that the editing was a bit hard but i got the hang of it at the end.

What I felt was also quite difficult was cutting down our film to 2minutes as we went over time LIMIT i felt that we had to make sure that we took out the irrelevant scenes but also kept as much as we could to allow the audience to understand what was happening. i also found the soundtrack quite hard although it was easy to do, just to come up with a sound to go with our film was a bit of a challenge this is because we didn't want our film sound to be cliché; we wanted it to be unique but also go with the theme of the film, therefore we had to experiment with various sounds to create the right sound.

I found editing our rough cut was straight forward. I also found that actually filming was quite successful after the second attempt.

Overall i found that it had its up's and downs but i felt that it was a fairly straight forward project that i believe i put my all into.

Text: Final Cut Pro

After trying Livetype, we were advised by our teacher Donna to use Final Cut Pro to do our titles. She agreed that putting extravagant effects on our title, would not add to the films and said that we would be better just using Finale Cut. Here is a clip we recorded when creating the titles:

I think these plain title look perfect for our film. As my research show most of the thrillers we were inspired by had quite plain fonts.

Text: Livetype

Although we had a lesson on Livetype at the beginning of our project, I, and the rest of my group was still not confident in using it. Below is a recording we done while trying different effects on our text. However we could not find one we felt would suit our Thriller. I feel our title should be quite plain with little effects, although this sounds quite boring, I just feel it will fit in with the sharp, static shots in our Thriller.

Above is a number of screen shots from using Soundtrack Pro. Looking for sound for our thriller was a complete nightmare. Eventhough there were many sounds to choose from, it wasn't what we had in our mind. But we managed to get there in the end. We didn't want to use the violin as it didn't really fit in with our type of thriller, and many people were using this type of sound. So we came up of an idea to combine the violin like sound with an Orchestral sound to add a catching impact. We still have yet to add our sound to our Final Thriller Opening. But so far we have edited what we want to use.

We found in our final shots that there were many spaces we could use to add text along with the opening. This was a huge advantage for us, as we didn't have to stress where to put and worry about whether it blend in the background or look out of place. We still need to edit our text properly, but again so far we are happy with where we have placed it and the time frame in which it is placed. 

Every time we edit, we think about the time frame and decided where we can put certain shots, sound and text.

I think this is crucial for every Editor to acknowledge when editing a piece of filming.
