This is my feedback i got from people, who were also watching our thriller opening. The people I interviewed were 16-18 years old, and so they werent our particular target audience, but it was great to get feedback from them as they were ion there too, and have gone through this whole media project. Sounds like they enjoyed it. :)

Question 8 Overall!
FINALY IT HAS COME TO AN END!.. HOW SAD? :(
BLOGGING WAS A WHOLE NEW EXPERIENCE FOR ME, AS I HAVE NEVER BLOGGED BEFORE. I AM GRATEFUL THAT WE HAVE BEEN ABE TO GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO THESE THINGS IN OUR MEDIA LESSON. I HAVE LEARNT A LOT 9OF NEW THINGS THESE PAST FEW WEEKS AND I AM GOING TO SHOW YOU.
This is our first prelim we did months ago. I remember doing this we had no idea what we were doing, but got the hang of it as we went along. For our prelim we didnt really plan but just more or less went along with what we had. We didnt even have a planning location and so we filmed in the college canteen. We didnt plan the timing of our prelim and how long it will take for us to get our equipment together or book them. Unlike our final production we didnt create a clear storyboard labelling the shots and so, we had tio alter while filming and this was time wasting.
In our final production, we thought more about the planning than ever before, to the extent of making a list of all the equipment we needed for the day and making a filming schedule. we planned for several lessons to make sure that we knew what we wanted our final production to be like and choosing who wanted to play the characters. We were organised especially the second time of our filming and made sure to take extra batteries, an extra light for our shots to be brighter. We didn't waste time talking as bout the shots we were going to do, as we had our story board with which we used as a guide the whole through completing our final production
Production
Filming our final prelim, we didnt really consider the type of shots we wanetd to use or how wen wanted to convey our characters, We end up filming in our college outfits and filming in our college canteen with the hustle and bustle of people about. We didn't acknowledge time. Now filming our final production we have learned how to consider time management and know what were filming next. We didnt waste time filming our final production we wanted to use. Throughout our filming we considered the shots we needed and the clothes while filming so the shots didn't seem out of place. For example, wearing a red lipstick before actually putting it on. We made sure we refilmed the same shot 3/4 times in different angles so that when it came to editing we had a variety, unlike our prelim where we only had a very small range of shots to choose from. Thus working with whatever we had.
Post Production
Our camera skills have massively improved from our first prelim. In our first prelim we did a good job with including a range of shots and angles to show our characters superiority.
However in our final production we have included different camera moves such as panning to create suspense. In our prelim we didn't think about the different ways we could create suspense but now using things such as props and lighting we managed to create suspense in an intriguing way to keep the audience engaged. The title sequence in our prelim is very basic, and almost looks similar to our final production title sequence. In our final production we have learnt about time management and knowing what title to put after the next and to consider the time distance in between. We used the art of thh title lesson to think about using either serif or sans serif font and in the end we used serif fonts to represent formality and femininity.
In our prelim, we were still learning how to use final cut pro and making sure that the shots fit in well and knowing which shots to keep or delete.Using final cut pro became very easy and even learning the basics such as saving properly, rendering, using the effects and so on, became a breeze to us. We learned to pay more attention to the things around us, such as, the background, and props. For example, the characters in our prelim we wearing normal clothes and we are not in character. Now shooting and editing our final production we have thought about the clothing the background, mise en scene, such as the use of wig, lipstick, high heels and even room colour. Editing our final production was fun as we began to use soundtrack pro as well. Soundtrack pro was not a favourite of ours in the editing of our prelim, but in our pro production we enjoyed mixing around with the sound and learning how to use the software properly. we even learned how to import sound and used the internet and youtube effectively for research of our final sound. We thought about our sound carefully and tried to incorporate our inspirational sound within. We also thought about the diegetic and non diegetic sound, and which sound effects we would want to use, in the end we just had the music over our opening through out, without sound effects.

Question 4 and 5
Researching a successful student film was difficult as I couldn't find information on their advertisement, and distribution and so i decided to base it on 'Looking For Eric'.
This is the link to the movie trailer
Looking For Eric
Looking for Eric is a 2009 British film about the escape from the trials of modern life that footbal and its heroes can bring for its fans. It was written by screen writer Paul Laverty and directed by English director Ken Loach. The film's cast includes former professional footballer Eric Cantona
Cinema City is a British Independent Cinema, and these are screen grabs of the one in Norwich. The cinema is quite small and only has a few screens.
The auditoria seat 190, 98 and 63. I think my media product will be shown here, because it is only a British student film. Filsm such as Avatar have a high budget and so can afford more seats making more profit. Our low budget British film will have to be seated in a small screen. Profit will probably be made, but not as much as a film directed by James Cameron.
Because ours is a student film, the internet is a good place for it to be advertised and publicized. A low budget production company like ours will eventually get a cinematic screening and shared screenings for family and friends to watch. The internet is a perfect place for our student film to be distributed and publicised potentially reaching a Global Audience.
Social Networking Sites Such As: Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Bebo can all help publicise and advertise our film. Many people keep in touch on these sites and 'word of mouth' will be our greatest weapon of getting our film out there to be watched. Many young people are involved in social networking and so it will appeal to them the most, especially with the use of internet on mobile phones, game consoles, laptops. the use of technology enhances our production and publicity.
Even mobile apps and games will help advertise the film, if we reach that point of Global Publicity and appealing to a Global Audience. For example, Sports Apps like Sky Sports, would publicise 'Looking For Eric making it appealing to the male audience.
Things such as Facebook Pages, create more publicity for the film and this is a 'word of mouth' technique in order to get more and more people to be involved. 'Looking For Eric' Facebook page received a lot of likes and this shows that it was a successful independent British Film.

Question 3
THIS IS MY MONTAGE OF WHO I THINK MY MEDIA PRODUCT IS FOR.
I THINK MY MEDIA PRODUCT WILL ATTRACT BOTH MALE AND FEMALE AND SO I HAVE INCLUDED IMAGES WHICH REPRESENT BOTH.
MALE

Gemma 22, Is a part time commercial model, journalist student. She enjoys going to the cinema and writing articles. She loves socialising with friends and family. Shops in H&M, Primark, Selfridges. She enjoys reading magazines and has her own little collection. OUR ORIGINAL TARGET AUDIENCE WAS COLLEGE STUDENTS, AGED 16-18. NOW LOOKING AT THE DESCRIPTIONS I HAVE GIVEN I THINK THEY SUIT BEST. I CAME UP WITH THESE DESCRIPTIONS BECAUSE I WANTED TO SHOW THAT MY MEDIA PRODUCT IS STILL AIMED AT YOUNG PEOPLE, JUST THOSE THAT ARE MORE MATURE. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC GENDER FOR MY MEDIA PRODUCT AS I WANT IT TO APPEAL TO BOTH. THE FEMALE CHARACTER APPEALS TO WOMEN BECAUSE IT REPRESENTS FEMALE EMPOWERMENT, AND IT ALSO APPEALS TO MEN BECAUSE IT REVEALS THE SEXY SIDE TO IT. NOW I HAVE REALISED THAT THE FILM IS UCH MORE SUITABLE FOR THESE PARTICULAR CHARACTER SUMMARIES. |

Question 2- Representing Particular Social Groups
As yu can see i have chosen these two rfeeze frames because I feel they represent those who's proffession is in breaking the law. For example people who are on a mission and go to the extreme to fix it, or secret agents who work for other people.the whole smart attire and glasses depict their social group.

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK
This is Sifan evaluating the strengths of our thriller and the weaknesses.
This is Karen evaluating the strengths and weaknessess of our thriller sequence
This is Alisha evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of our thriller sequence
I chose 'To Kill A Mockingbird' to use to compare the conventions of this movie to our own media product. I believe we have incoperated conventions from this film into ours as well as differences.

The movie starts of with an establishing shot of the girls' hand over the box and of many other props such as, pens, paper, pearls and so on. We have included an establishing shot, to introduce the viewer to the female protagonist 'Ruby's' room and to introduce them to the type of woman she is. From just the props we're able to tell that she is a very feminine lady who takes care of herself, and her looks. this is shown through her make up. The key prop is also present which is the passport, and gives it that suspenseful unusual feel of 'why is there a passport among all those other things?'.
The title sequence text of this movie is similar to ours in the sense that is plain and simple yet, fits in very well. The text doesn't take over much space of the movie and is fitted in at the right time to make sure the audience does not lose interest. This is the same thing we were going for; the idea of using plain text to catch the readers eyes but not to overpower the moving pictures.

The title over the black background and over the action is present in both our sequences, and this of course makes the title stand out while keeping it in movement with the rest of the pictures.
The match cut of the hand onto the prop is shown in both these sequences and this why I find this film to inspirational. We used a various amount of match cuts and close ups, without the need to see the person's face until the end. Again suspense is created and we feel the need to know who its is and what important role do they plauy in teh film.
The close up of the lips signify that the protagonist is a sexy female. This applies the same for the close up of the eye, which i have not included in these 9 stills. They all depict hidden identity and illustrates that this character is indeed the main character. In this sense we have hidden the protagonists face until the end to convey the hidden identity theme.
I love where we have placed the title. And the low angle shot of the shoes, i believe is framed perfectly. 'To Kill A MockingBird' there is not many use of specific low angle shots and I guess that is the difference between ours and that film. This low angle connotes her superiority as she is high in her profession. It also shows that she is am intimidating woman.
OVERALL I THINK WE HAVE USED MANY CONVENTIONAL ASPECTS OF MOVIES AND HAVE INCORPORATED IT INTO OURS. OUR MOST CONVENTIONAL, I THINK IS OUR TITLE SEQUENCE AS WE PLACED THE TITLES OVER THE MOVING PICTURES AND USED PLAIN SIMPLE TEXT, WHICH STILL GIVES OFF THAT THRILLER FEEL THROUGHOUT.

Final
Our Final Sound
So our best solution was to make some of the sound low in volume and some high and keep a nice level and mixture of sound throughout. We only made slight changes, as we didn't wasn't the sound to seem messy and out of place. It fits in well with our opening and we hope that the audience enjoy it as much as we do :)

Title Sequence - Timeline
First: ‘Film Director’ – [ lasts 3 seconds]
Second: Actor 1- [lasts 3 seconds]
Third: Actor 2- [lasts 3 seconds]
Fourth: Actor 3- [lasts 3 seconds]
Fifth: actor 4- [lasts 3 seconds]
Sixth: Actor 5- [lasts 3 seconds]
Seventh: Actor 6- [lasts 3 seconds]
Eighth: Actor/Director- [lasts 3 seconds]
Ninth: Actor 8- [lasts 3 seconds]
Tenth: TITLE NAME – [lasts 8-10 seconds]
The title lasts a little longer than the rest because it is the name of the film the viewers are watching; the most important feature of the opening title sequence. It is also in a bigger font in capital letters and this is to catch the viewer’s eyes and stand out from the rest of the titles.
Eleventh: Featuring Actors- [lasts 6 seconds]
Twelfth: Casting By [lasts 3 seconds]
Thirteenth: Music Supervisor [lasts 3 seconds]
Initially I wanted to use Se7en for our inspirational title sequence, but realised that it would not fit into our opening at all.
So i think that The title sequence to 'Reservoir Dogs' is very similar to what we have used. The font is a serif font. The text is on a black background and on the moving pictures. The orange writing on the black background stands out and catches the readers attention. It signifies that they should pay attention to the text too.
This text connotes some sophisticated essence and shows some professionalism, just like the characters in the movie and in our own opening.
Final Title Sequence and Text
We have now completed our final title sequence. for our final finished opening. We have chosen to use a simple text to not draw the reader from the importance of the opening but at the same time make it shown clearly for them to read and recognise the text. The font we used was Cambria, which is similar to Times new Roman but less formal
Our reason for using this font was to portray a sophisticated female, so we used this font as it didn't look to formal but made the title sequence a lot more feminine. Cambria is a serif font and we learned in our previous lessons about title sequence that serif fonts represent classic/sophisticated/formal while sans-serif represents a more modern/laidback and is commonly used for comedies.
Again we wanted to divert from using any effects and swirls and flying because we want the opening to just go straight to the point. I think our opening already has quite a few things going on for the reader to digest and so a title sequence full of effects will just lose their attention.
Sweet and Simple.

Refilming the Feet/Walking
This is my talk to video about refilming the 'feet/walking' part of our opening, why we did it and how it makes our thriller better. We only shot, from her waist down to her feet to keep that hidden identity theme. It only took us about 5 minutes to re-film and it looks much better than it did before, as it fits in very well.

Evaluation of Rough Cut- My Strengths and Weaknesses
Our Rough Cut is now complete and we have managed to cut the time down a little. We still need to re-film the feet as it didn't quite fit in to our thriller as much. We are planning to refilm it outside our college, because the college ground is very modern and classy. It represents a sophisticated person who turns up at Ruby's door.
Time management is my weaknesses so far and I'm trying my best to keep everything on track and make sure that I don't fall behind on the deadline. That is the worst thing that can happen. I want to make sure that I have included all I can in order to get a good grade, not only as an individual but as a whole group.
In terms of our whole project I think our team work has been great. We have worked together so well in order to complete our rough cut. My tame mates are good listeners and we are able to input our own ideas and co-operate with each other.
Despite having some frustrating moments of re-filming our rough cut and and then re-filming the 'feet' part, we have managed to keep our cool and remember that every effort goes towards our final outcome.
I am happy to say that I have enjoyed working our Rough Cut project and hope that our Final project turns out AMAZING!! :)

We decided to stick with our original sound. we used the pen tool to adjust the volume so that we could bring ti in and out. We found while watching back our thrille rthat the sound began to feel repetitive and we don't want the audience losing intrest now would we?!.
