In What Ways does your media Product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Our title sequence is pretty conventional. We based the time placement of titles on the opening of The shinning, with the production company, the director, title, followed by the actors names, and all the other people such a costume & music. Each of our title is on the screen for 3-4 seconds as for part of research in to openings, I found that most titles are on screen for 3-4 seconds, for example in Reservoir Dogs and Lock Stock, this is the case.

Target audience Profile

Below is a montage of what i think the typical person that would enjoy our thriller would have or be interested in.I believe our film is aimed at males more than a female audience due to the sexiness involved in our thriller but I also I feel that females can relate to our thriller also due to the femininity but more so males.

Question 4 and 5

Researching a successful student film was difficult as I couldn't find information on their advertisement, and distribution and so i decided to base it on 'Looking For Eric'.

This is the link to the movie trailer
Looking For Eric

Looking for Eric is a 2009 British film about the escape from the trials of modern life that footbal and its heroes can bring for its fans. It was written by screen writer Paul Laverty and directed by English director Ken Loach. The film's cast includes former professional footballer Eric Cantona

Cinema City is a British Independent Cinema, and these are screen grabs of the one in Norwich. The cinema is quite small and only has a few screens.

The auditoria seat 190, 98 and 63. I think my media product will be shown here, because it is only a British student film. Filsm such as Avatar have a high budget and so can afford more seats making more profit. Our low budget British film will have to be seated in a small screen. Profit will probably be made, but not as much as a film directed by James Cameron.

Because ours is a student film, the internet is a good place for it to be advertised and publicized. A  low budget production company like ours will eventually get a cinematic screening and shared screenings for family and friends to watch. The internet is a perfect place for our student film to be distributed and publicised potentially reaching a Global Audience.

Social Networking Sites Such As: Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Bebo can all help publicise and advertise our film. Many people keep in touch on these sites and 'word of mouth' will be our greatest weapon of getting our film out there to be watched. Many young people are involved in social networking and so it will appeal to them the most, especially with the use of internet on mobile phones, game consoles, laptops. the use of technology enhances our production and publicity.

Even mobile apps and games will help advertise the film, if we reach that point of Global Publicity and appealing to a Global Audience. For example, Sports Apps like Sky Sports, would publicise  'Looking For Eric making it appealing to the male audience.

Things such as Facebook Pages, create more publicity for the film and this is a 'word of mouth' technique in order to get more and more people to be involved. 'Looking For Eric' Facebook page received a lot of likes and this shows that it was a successful independent British Film.

Question 3

THIS IS MY MONTAGE OF WHO I THINK MY MEDIA PRODUCT IS FOR.

I THINK MY MEDIA PRODUCT WILL ATTRACT BOTH MALE AND FEMALE AND SO I HAVE INCLUDED IMAGES WHICH REPRESENT BOTH.

MALE

FEMALE

Micheal 20, is an aspiring fitness instructor.

He enjoys going to the cinema with his friends on the weekends.

He shops in JD Sports and Topshop, and likes collecting albums of his favourite artists.

Gemma 22, Is a part time commercial model, journalist student.

She enjoys going to the cinema and writing articles.

She loves socialising with friends and family.
Shops in H&M, Primark, Selfridges.

She enjoys reading magazines and has her own little collection.

OUR ORIGINAL TARGET AUDIENCE WAS COLLEGE STUDENTS, AGED 16-18. NOW LOOKING AT THE DESCRIPTIONS I HAVE GIVEN I THINK THEY SUIT BEST. I CAME UP WITH THESE DESCRIPTIONS BECAUSE I WANTED TO SHOW THAT MY MEDIA PRODUCT IS STILL AIMED AT YOUNG PEOPLE, JUST THOSE THAT ARE MORE MATURE. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC GENDER FOR MY MEDIA PRODUCT AS I WANT IT TO APPEAL TO BOTH. THE FEMALE CHARACTER APPEALS TO WOMEN BECAUSE IT REPRESENTS FEMALE EMPOWERMENT, AND IT ALSO APPEALS TO MEN BECAUSE IT REVEALS THE SEXY SIDE TO IT. NOW I HAVE REALISED THAT THE FILM IS UCH MORE SUITABLE FOR THESE PARTICULAR CHARACTER SUMMARIES.

How does your media project represent social groups ?

I think our project represents the working class social group due to the smart immaculate dress sense and formal aspects of the film.

Art of The title sequence

These are some screen shots from our thriller Ruby and also some screen shots from the opening of 'Electra Luxx' (NSFW) .In  our thrilller opening there were various simililarities to  Electra Luxxfor example the fact that the female is the protagonist and also the more powerful character . Furthermore , in Electra Luxx they used red lips and stockings and also a wig which is also some of the main props used in our thriller. This shows that the protagonist in the character is portraying a similiar role to our main character of a feminine female criminal who uses her sex appeal as her weapon. One of the main contrasts of Electra Luxx and our thriller is the fact that it is an animiation opening and ours isnt .Also our thriller uses slower more senial music and also has not got the usage of a w weapon whereas Electa Luxx has the the usage of a gun which is one of the main props in the opening.

Question 2- Representing Particular Social Groups

As yu can see i have chosen these two rfeeze frames because I feel they represent those who's proffession is in breaking the law. For example people who are on a mission and go to the extreme to fix it, or secret agents who work for other people.the whole smart attire and glasses depict their social group.

Talk to Camera:

QUESTION 2: HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS

We have been inspired by Uma Thruman in Pulp fiction to help us create the character "RUBY". We have used the idea of using a wig to hide her identity. we have also taken the idea to make her look sexy and attractive by using red lipstick and
her clothing (tight black skirt tight top).

The other character who is not in the scene for long has similar appearance and characteristic  to the female in "The girlfriend experience". this is because they both have their hair pulled back. they are both in black clothing, wearing black sunglasses, and have no feeling in their facial expressions.

question 1

in lesson we was told to take some screen shots from a title sequence thriller opening called " Electra Luxx (NSFW) and some shots from our own thriller opening, so we could show how we have flowed the same convention and also show how the differences between them.

screen shots from "Electra Luxx (NSFW):

Looking at both of the shots we have realized that the conventions are the same as its a close up of the eyes indicating a mysterious suspenseful event that's going to occur.

This is another example of how both thriller openings have used close ups to grab the audiences attention. The fact that both opening uses red lipstick shows that both characters symbolize  sexiness and Femininity.

We have realized that although the thriller is an animated, we have similar conventions which signified hidden identity and mystery. such as in our thriller we have used a slightly low angle shot to show that she is in power and in control in this particular situation. Also in electra luxx her identity is hidden because you can only see her eyes and her hair.

Below are images of the feet scenes from our thriller opening. the conventions that are similar to electra lurr are the feet scenes. although its not done in close up we believed that they purposly made her feet cross over to show feminine power.

below are also some more screen shots of femiinnine behaviour and activities such as in our threiller we have a screen shot of a wig, make-up bag, red lipstick, to show how they use their sexiness to get mens attention. in one of Electra lurr screen shots show a group of woment which indecates power and control.
