How does your media project represent social groups ?

I think our project represents the working class social group due to the smart immaculate dress sense and formal aspects of the film.

These are some screen shots from our thriller Ruby and also some screen shots from the opening of 'Electra Luxx' (NSFW) .In  our thrilller opening there were various simililarities to  Electra Luxxfor example the fact that the female is the protagonist and also the more powerful character . Furthermore , in Electra Luxx they used red lips and stockings and also a wig which is also some of the main props used in our thriller. This shows that the protagonist in the character is portraying a similiar role to our main character of a feminine female criminal who uses her sex appeal as her weapon.One of the main contrasts of Electra Luxx and our thriller is the fact that it is an animiation opening and ours isnt .Also our thriller uses slower more senial music and also has not got the usage of a w weapon whereas Electa Luxx has the the usage of a gun which is one of the main props in the opening.

Question 2- Representing Particular Social Groups

As yu can see i have chosen these two rfeeze frames because I feel they represent those who's proffession is in breaking the law. For example people who are on a mission and go to the extreme to fix it, or secret agents who work for other people.the whole smart attire and glasses depict their social group.

QUESTION 2: HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS

We have been inspired by Uma Thruman in Pulp fiction to help us create the character "RUBY". We have used the idea of using a wig to hide her identity. we have also taken the idea to make her look sexy and attractive by using red lipstick and 
her clothing (tight black skirt tight top).

The other character who is not in the scene for long has similar appearance and characteristic  to the female in "The girlfriend experience". this is because they both have their hair pulled back. they are both in black clothing, wearing black sunglasses, and have no feeling in their facial expressions.

in lesson we was told to take some screen shots from a title sequence thriller opening called " Electra Luxx (NSFW) and some shots from our own thriller opening, so we could show how we have flowed the same convention and also show how the differences between them.

Looking at both of the shots we have realized that the conventions are the same as its a close up of the eyes indicating a mysterious suspenseful event that's going to occur.

This is another example of how both thriller openings have used close ups to grab the audiences attention. The fact that both opening uses red lipstick shows that both characters symbolize  sexiness and Femininity.

We have realized that although the thriller is an animated, we have similar conventions which signified hidden identity and mystery. such as in our thriller we have used a slightly low angle shot to show that she is in power and in control in this particular situation. Also in electra luxx her identity is hidden because you can only see her eyes and her hair.

Below are images of the feet scenes from our thriller opening. the conventions that are similar to electra lurr are the feet scenes. although its not done in close up we believed that they purposly made her feet cross over to show feminine power.

below are also some more screen shots of femiinnine behaviour and activities such as in our threiller we have a screen shot of a wig, make-up bag, red lipstick, to show how they use their sexiness to get mens attention. in one of Electra lurr screen shots show a group of woment which indecates power and control.

I chose 'To Kill A Mockingbird' to use to compare the conventions of this movie to our own media product. I believe we have incoperated conventions from this film into ours as well as differences.

The movie starts of with an establishing shot of the girls' hand over the box and of many other props such as, pens, paper,  pearls and so on. We have included an establishing shot, to introduce the viewer to the female protagonist 'Ruby's' room and to introduce them to the type of woman she is. From just the props we're able to tell that she is a very feminine lady who takes care of herself, and her looks. this is shown through her make up. The key prop is also present which is the passport, and gives it  that suspenseful unusual feel of 'why is there a passport among all those other things?'.







The title sequence text of this movie is similar to ours in the sense that is plain and simple yet, fits in very well. The text doesn't take over much space of the movie and is fitted in at the right time to make sure the audience does not lose interest. This is the same thing we were going for; the idea of using plain text to catch the readers eyes but not to overpower the moving pictures.

  

The title over the black background and over the action is present in both our sequences, and this of course makes the title stand out while keeping it in movement with the rest of the pictures.

 

 The match cut of the hand onto the prop is shown in both these sequences and this why I find this film to inspirational. We used a various amount of match cuts and close ups, without the need to see the person's face until the end. Again suspense is created and we feel the need to know who its is and what important role do they plauy in teh film.

The close up of the lips signify that the protagonist is a sexy female. This applies the same for the close up of the eye, which i have not included in these 9 stills. They all depict hidden identity and illustrates that this character is indeed the main character. In this sense we have hidden the protagonists face until the end to convey the hidden identity theme.








I love where we have placed the title. And the low angle shot of the shoes, i believe is framed perfectly. 'To Kill A MockingBird' there is not many use of specific low angle shots and I guess that is the difference between ours and that film. This low angle connotes her superiority as she is high in her profession. It also shows that she is am intimidating woman.

OVERALL I THINK WE HAVE USED MANY CONVENTIONAL ASPECTS OF MOVIES AND HAVE INCORPORATED IT INTO OURS. OUR MOST CONVENTIONAL, I THINK IS OUR TITLE SEQUENCE AS WE PLACED THE TITLES OVER THE MOVING PICTURES AND USED PLAIN SIMPLE TEXT, WHICH STILL GIVES OFF THAT THRILLER FEEL THROUGHOUT.
