Font Analysis

IN THIS LESSON WE WERE TAUGHT THE TWO TYPES OF FONTS:

SERIF FONTS- SUCH AS TIMES AND COURIER
These fonts are generally more traditional and often slightly more formal than sans serif fonts

SANS SERIF FONTS- Such as Ariel and Comic Sans
Sans serif fonts are generally more informal, more modern and more friendly.

The font used in the promotion of PEARL HARBOUR is a serif font. This suggests that it is old fashioned and more sophisticated. this also suggests that it is of a historical context. The higher case also shows order and regimentation and represents the main importance of the characters.

This is a sharp contrast to the ROCKY cover

Rocky used the font Franklin Gothic Heavy. this suggests that the film is much more modern and contemporary. the film itself s situated in modern America which is urban and busy. the boldness of the title represents the charcters personality and physical appearnce. the main charcter who is a boxer fits the title of the film cover.

"Fonts convey an emotion without actually having to say words"- Brody

In our lesson we looked at different fonts and how each type of font conveys the genre of the movie and its context.

There are two types of fonts;
Serif
Sans Serif

Rocky

 This the title of the famous boxing movie, "ROCKY"
This is an example of a sans serif title. As you can see, there are no 'flicks' on the start and end of the letters. It is straight foward and simple.
This type of font could represent a modern lifestyle and context of the film. The film itself is shot in a suburban area in America. It is very bold and eye catching.
